Abstract

Abstract: Kerusakan skin barrier merupakan masalah dermatologis yang umum terjadi dan berperan penting dalam patogenesis berbagai gangguan kulit, seperti atopic dermatitis, psoriasis, serta iritasi akibat penggunaan bahan eksfoliatif kimia. Disrupsi skin barrier ditandai oleh peningkatan transepidermal water loss (TEWL), penurunan protein diferensiasi epidermis, aktivasi respons inflamasi, dan stres oksidatif pada tingkat seluler. Colloidal oatmeal yang berasal dari Avena sativa telah lama digunakan sebagai skin protectant dan diakui memiliki sifat humektan, antiinflamasi, serta penyeimbang pH kulit. Namun, kajian yang secara khusus membahas pengaruh colloidal oatmeal terhadap biomarker molekuler kerusakan skin barrier pada model in vitro masih terbatas. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk meninjau secara komprehensif peran colloidal oatmeal terhadap biomarker kerusakan skin barrier pada keratinosit in vitro. Metode yang digunakan adalah narrative review dengan penelusuran literatur pada basis data PubMed, ScienceDirect, Elsevier, SAGE Journals, dan Google Scholar. Hasil kajian menunjukkan bahwa colloidal oatmeal mampu memodulasi diferensiasi epidermis melalui peningkatan ekspresi protein epidermal differentiation complex, menekan mediator inflamasi seperti IL-1α dan TNF-α, serta menurunkan biomarker stres oksidatif. Selain itu, colloidal oatmeal juga berperan sebagai prebiotic yang mendukung keseimbangan mikrobioma kulit. Temuan ini menegaskan bahwa colloidal oatmeal merupakan agen bioaktif yang berpotensi mendukung perbaikan skin barrier berbasis mekanisme molekuler dan relevan untuk pengembangan formulasi dermatologis yang aman.
