Abstract

Seasonal variability is one of the characteristics that may affect tourism activities, particularly in coastal destinations that depend on weather and marine conditions. Changes in rainfall intensity, wind, waves, and fluctuations in tourist visits may affect the activities and continuity of tourism service businesses. This study aimed to analyze the strategies employed by tourism service providers to anticipate and adapt to seasonal variability and to examine the forms of resilience demonstrated by tourism service providers in Telong-Elong Tourism Destination, Jerowaru, East Lombok. The study employed a qualitative method with a descriptive approach. Data were collected through interviews, observations, and documentation. Six informants participated, consisting of two food and beverage service providers, two marine tourism transportation providers, and two tour guides. Informants were purposively selected based on their involvement and experience in tourism activities. The findings indicate that tourism service providers respond to seasonal variability by recognizing patterns based on experience, observing weather and marine conditions, adjusting operating hours and business activities, reducing production and costs, changing travel and guiding schedules, diversifying income sources, promoting services, and utilizing customers and social networks. Strategies vary according to business characteristics. Resilience is demonstrated through the ability to anticipate changes, respond and adapt, maintain business continuity, utilize resources and networks, and recover and develop business activities. The study concludes that the resilience of tourism service providers in Telong-Elong is a dynamic process shaped by experience, flexibility, resource management, income diversification, networks, and learning from recurring seasonal changes.
