Abstrak: This study aims to describe the role of pragmatics in Indonesian language learning as an effort to support the development of communicative competence of eleventh-grade students of SMK Al Hilal Namlea, Buru Regency. The focus of the study includes speech acts, understanding context, and politeness in learning interactions. This study uses a qualitative descriptive approach with an analysis of examples of teacher and student speech in the context of Indonesian language learning. The analysis is carried out based on the function of the speech act, the appropriateness of the speech to the communication context, and the politeness strategies used. The results of the analysis indicate that learning interactions include directive, representative, and expressive speech acts used to give instructions, express opinions, ask for clarification, and express appreciation. Understanding context plays a role in helping students interpret the speaker's intentions and provide appropriate responses. Language politeness is reflected in activities such as asking for help, expressing disagreement, giving constructive criticism, asking for an opportunity to speak, expressing gratitude, and conveying corrections. These three aspects are related in supporting students' ability to use language appropriately, understand communication situations, respect their interlocutors, and convey ideas effectively. Pragmatic learning can be implemented through group discussions, presentations, debates, and role-playing. This study confirms that pragmatics has the potential to be a foundation for developing students' communicative competence.
