Revisions to seismic design provisions may lead to different design response spectra depending on location and soil conditions. This study compares the spectra specified by SNI 1726:2012 and SNI 1726:2019 at 20 locations in West Sumatra under five site-class scenarios: SA, SB, SC, SD, and SE. A quantitative descriptive-comparative analysis of seismic parameters and location coordinates covers 100 location–site class combinations. The parameters examined include SS, S1, Fa, Fv, SDS, SD1, transition periods, and the shape of each spectrum. SS increased at 11 locations and decreased at nine; S1 increased at 13 locations, decreased at four, and remained unchanged at three. Bukittinggi recorded the largest changes, with increases of 128% in SS and 142% in S1. At the same location, the greatest SDS increase was approximately 174% for site class SC, while the greatest SD1 increase was approximately 174% for site class SD. Of the 100 spectrum pairs, 38 were higher under the 2019 standard, 24 were lower, 23 intersected, and 15 were nearly coincident. These variations underline the importance of considering site coordinates, soil classification, and structural period when establishing design spectra.
