PELATIHAN PERTOLONGAN PERTAMA (FIRST AID) UNTUK TIM SATUAN TUGAS (SATGAS) PAGEU GAMPOENG DESA PANGGOI, KECAMATAN MUARA DUA, KOTA LHOKSEUMAWE

Abstract

First aid capacity at the community level is important because community members may become the first responders before professional health services arrive. This community service activity aimed to improve the knowledge and preparedness of the Pageu Gampoeng Task Force in providing first aid for injured or acutely ill community members. The activity involved 20 participants and used a participatory training approach consisting of preparation and coordination, pretest, lectures, discussion, demonstrations, simulations, posttest, and provision of first-aid equipment. Training topics included initial assessment, airway opening, bleeding control, splinting, and emergency evacuation. Paired pretest-posttest analysis showed that the mean score increased from 51.80 to 87.75, an increase of 35.95 points. All 20 participants improved their scores, and the paired t-test showed a statistically significant difference (t(19)=7.920; p<0.001), with a very large effect size (Cohen's dz=1.77). The activity therefore strengthened participants' short-term first-aid knowledge and provided a foundation for improving community preparedness through continued simulation and refresher training.
