Abstract

This Community Service (PkM) activity aims to empower the community of Rembitan Tourism Village, Central Lombok, through cooking class training based on local food and towel art training as a strategy to strengthen human resource capacity and differentiate sustainable tourism services. Although the village lies on a strategic buffer route of the Mandalika Special Economic Zone (KEK), its local maize has not yet been processed into a value-added gastronomic tourism attraction, and residents' homestays still lack the aesthetic touches of housekeeping services. The activity used a participatory experiential learning approach consisting of field observation, Focus Group Discussions (FGD), technique demonstrations, and guided and independent practice. The program was carried out in partnership with Titian Foundation Lombok and involved 15 young participants in the cooking class session (preparing Lemper Ketan Jagung Isi Ayam, Talam Jagung, and Dadar Gulung Isi Jagung) and 17 young participants in the towel art session (creating Love Swans, Star/Flower, and Peacock shapes). The evaluation shows significant improvements in understanding of product hygiene (score 4.00/5.00), interest in culinary entrepreneurship (4.00/5.00), and creativity and towel art skills (score 4.67/5.00). The use of easily replicable local resources has built a foundation for the co-creation of experience and the strengthening of homestay servicescape in welcoming the influx of tourists to the Mandalika area.
