Type II Diabetes Mellitus (DM) is a growing global health problem with a high risk of cardiovascular complications and dyslipidemia if not detected early. Dufa-Dufa Subdistrict has the highest number of DM cases in the working area of the Siko Public Health Center, Ternate City, with 291 cases (4.7%). The main obstacle in the field is the suboptimal capacity of posyandu cadres to carry out independent screening using Point of Care Testing (POCT) devices. This community service activity aims to improve the knowledge and skills of health cadres in operating POCT glucose and cholesterol devices in accordance with the Standard Operating Procedure (SOP). The methods used included Focus Group Discussions (FGD), interactive education using a booklet, intensive hands-on training, and direct mentoring. Success was evaluated through a pre-test and post-test of skills among 25 health cadres. The results show an increase in the mean score from 65.08 (40% skilled) in the pre-test to 96.80 (100% skilled) in the post-test. The formation of a DM Screening Care Cadre Group and technical mentoring proved effective in making cadres independent as a promotive and preventive effort to control DM risk factors at the community level.
